Our client is seeking an exceptional Finance Director to join the board and become part of our exciting plans for the future. Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will have excellent Financial Leadership and Communication skills acquired within an Agency / Consultancy environment where heshe will have proven success in owning overall financial management, risk management, legal and company secretarial responsibilities.

A unique Finance Director opportunity has been created to work with the Managing Director & CEO to bring about the changes required in operational and financial management and control to facilitate our next stage of growth and profitability.
The FD will direct and oversee all of the financial activities, statutory accounts; management accounts; operation costing accounts (forecasts & Budgets) and ad hoc updates as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• In conjunction with the Board, assess the long term financial trends and review prospects for future growth of income and new product areas and closing of any potential acquisition targets
• Ensure the Company meets its financial and legal responsibilities, including preparation and submission of Statutory accounts
• Contributes to the achievement of the company objectives by driving forward our Financial Strategy
• Meet with the Board of Directors regularly to keep them informed and to offer direction and Financial leadership
• Timely and accurate preparation of management accounts; budgets & financial reports for the Board Investor.
• Provide robust financial and regulatory oversight on commercial matters, including proposal writing, contractual negotiations, project costing and pricing.
• Ensure the Company is Company risk profile is actively monitored and managed
• Review all areas of the business' processes in conjunction with colleagues and ensure appropriate systems and controls are in place. This is particularly important in the areas of project management, costing and budget control
• Lead and manage a small finance team in providing a full accounting service to the business, including Cash, Treasury Management and Grant Applications
• Review reports and analyse projections of sales and income against actual figures and drive improvements
• Further development of internal systems and processes across Financial, Sales and Operations to ensure there is commercial integrity and that they meet the needs of all functions within the business and is developed appropriately and within a timely manner
• Management and maintenance of the Groups Secretarial responsibilities on behalf of the Board
• Actively manage the Companies Tax position to minimise liability
• Ownership of the Company’s payroll process and sign-off of monthly payroll and expenses

SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

• CIMA or ACCA qualified with a proven track record in building and administering a sound financial function in a SME
• Will have worked in an environment in which continuous improvement and striving towards operational excellence are paramount
• Experience of working at FD level, ideally for medium sized enterprises (50 - 250 staff)
• Lead , motivate and inspire the existing Finance team to deliver a robust and flexible ‘service’ to the organisation
• Ability to ensure the company remains financially strong with sound future planning
• Ability to quickly analyse financial and non financial data, identify issues or areas of inefficiencies, proposing solutions to these issues and managing the implementation
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence the overall strategic direction of the company
• Used to working in small teams and getting his / her ‘hands dirty
• The successful individual should be capable of acting as a partner to the Managing Director in the running of the business and be able to contribute at both a strategic and operational level strategies
• Ability to be actively involved at all levels of the business, be keenly analytical and at the same time have the strength of character to relentlessly seek out and drive through the necessary systems and operational changes
• A pragmatic and confident individual with sound interpersonal skills.
• IT literate, with strong spreadsheet modelling abilities, a good communicator and presenter, tenacious, with the ability to motivate and manage individuals effectively, across all functions.
• You will be comfortable with an extremely hands on role, be used to managing a small team and have excellent commercial acumen as well as technical experience
• Experience dealing with investors and investment strategies is also hugely beneficial
