We are currently representing a forward thinking, dynamic organisation who is looking to recruit a Financial Controller to take sole responsibility for their finance function. There is opportunity for development and for the right candidate, the role has the potential of progressing to FD. Reporting to the Directors, your duties will be as follows:
• Preparation and production of monthly management accounts
• Budgets and cashflow forecasts
• Prepayments and accruals
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliation and maintenance of cash book
• Production of spreadsheets for the sales day book and the monthly accounts
• Paying all tour operators and reconciling the payments to the in-house computer system
• Responsible for the online banking system and preparation of payments
• Monitoring cost effectiveness of overheads on a monthly basis
• Production of customer sales invoices and associated reports
• Chasing of outstanding debtor balances and responsible for debtor reports
• Producing and processing creditor payments by BACS and cheques
• Preparation of monthly salary payments and responsible for salary reports for the Directors
• Preparation of commission income and mark up income
• Quarterly VAT returns and monthly PAYE and NI contributions
Ideally you will bring in new processes to the organisation and be responsible for full automation and integration of the accounting system. You will have experience in the travel and leisure industry; for example, travel agents, hotel, rail or flight specialist as you will need to understand the back office system.
This role will suit someone who is an active studier, part qualified, with the ambition to become a qualified accountant and move into a senior managerial position.
